Meet the Owner
Greg Mauger is the proud owner of the Durango Diner, having purchased the Diner in September, 2021 from long time owners Gary and Donna Broad. Greg’s love of cooking started when he was young, often preparing dinner for his mother, who worked long hours to provide for the family. He began working at the Diner in 2009 while attending Fort Lewis College. Over the years he worked nearly every position, and kept in close contact with Gary and Donna, until he made the purchase in September, 2021. He continues to be hands-on and you will find him at the grill many days a week.
Although a native of North Carolina, Greg has taken his Colorado identity seriously by enjoying many of the outdoor activities that this area has to offer. He is an avid hiker/backpacker, having completed the Triple Crown of hiking – Pacific Crest Trail (2016), Continental Divide Trail (2017) and Appalachian Trail (2018), as well as other long-distance trails including the Colorado Trail and Arizona Trail. He loves snowboarding/splitboarding in the winter, rafting and mountain biking in the summer, and fly fishing year-round.
Greg feels fortunate to be surrounded by a terrific group of dedicated staff, many of which have stayed with him from the time of the purchase. He also enjoys the support of his family, having pulled his mother out of retirement to do the behind the scenes bookkeeping, and calling on his sisters to provide remote support on various projects.
Greg is dedicated to honoring the rich tradition of the Diner, keeping the relaxed blue collar atmosphere, and adding his own touches to best serve his local and visiting clientele.
